Honesdale is a borough of Wayne County. The greater Honesdale area is rich in architectural treasures and home to many retail and gift shops, cozy restaurants and cafes and architecturally stunning homes. Honesdale’s picturesque Central Park overlooks Wayne County’s historic Court House, as well as a number of other prominent buildings, such as the boyhood home of Dick Smith, composer of “Winter Wonderland” and the Old Stone Jail, which dates back to 1859.
Honesdale hosts the annual Wayne County Fair, starting on the first Friday in August as it has for over a century. The Fair spans nine days and draws thousands of visitors. It features typical county-fair events like horse racing, tractor pulling, livestock exhibits, concerts and other entertainments, many rides for children, crafts, home goods, and much more. As of the census of 2010, there were 4,480 people residing in Honesdale.Honesdale is in the Wayne Highlands School District.
